Insurance Provider Delisting: What Physiotherapists Need to Know

In recent years, insurance companies have taken measures to delist physiotherapists from benefits claims processing and reimbursement due to false or fraudulent billings for services not rendered. Insurance companies are increasingly concerned with physiotherapists issuing false claims and taking advantage of benefits available under group plans. Delisting is becoming more common in many healthcare settings and involves healthcare professionals including, but not limited to, dentists, chiropodists, podiatrists, massage therapists, physiotherapists, naturopaths, psychotherapists and psychologists.

As a physiotherapist, becoming delisted with a major insurance company may have significant adverse effects on your practice. Delisting may also be accompanied by a complaint to the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.

We routinely assist physiotherapists with delisting issues at insurance companies.
